I ordered 4 Topo maps from the USGS store on Sept. 7th, and specified a PO box as my delivery address....and also my street address as my billing address....the maps were 8 dollars each, plus shipping...
So, $37 came out of my checking account.....on Sept 9th, another $17 came out..so I sent them an email asking about the charges.
2 maps came to my mailbox, and two shipped to my PO box.
Today, my bank account is only showing -$16.....
Here's the reply from the map store:
"I'm looking at your order XXXXXX and I do see that you put the order in on the store web site. So the shipping address was created when you created your account and it is for the street address and not a PO Box address.
The maps you purchased are coming out of two different warehouses. 2 of your maps will be shipped out of our Denver warehouse, Honey creek and Barthell SW, TN. The charge for this part of the order will be $16.00.
Your other 2 maps, Stockton and Sharp Place, TN will be sent from our Oregon Warehouse and the charge for this part of the order is $21.00. So the total charge on the order will only be the $37.00.
Since our store allows for our customers to select Special Shipping like Fed Ex overnight or 2Day or Fed Ex Ground it reserves and additional amount on your card just in case you selected this shipping. When your order closes out with out the special shipping selected the additional charge will drop off."
I've emailed them back to let them know they appeared to credit my account to much and that now I'm only seeing the $16 hit.....
So, any one else had this issue?
The good thing is, I got the maps, and 3 out of the 4 have the UTM grid.....so I only had to draw grid lines on one!
Things were so much easier before TVA closed the local map store!
