I'm heading to Crater Lake with a few buddies in mid August. We're thinking of a shuttle to Wizard Island, and a hike up Mt. Scott. Any other things to consider? We're all mid 40s, in good shape, and looking for the best scenery in the park. Thanks.

Both of those things are good things to do. There is also a little known road out to the Pinnacles Trail that is worth doing. Easy, and only 1/2 mile walking, it begins at the road nearly opposite the Phantom Ship Overlook. Pinnacles Road will take you about 5-6 miles to a parking lot. Not many people bother to visit them, but they are most like the more colorful hoodoos of Bryce.

Might as well hike up Garfield Peak as well. Oh, and the Watchman is a short but totally worth it hike.
In fact, you might as well hike the entire rim (about 10 miles) from Grouse Hill to the Lodge.
