Hello, I'm planning what is called the figure 8 in Uwharrie, North Carolina this weekend, and want to build up to fully thru hiking uwharrie before the end of the year. I've hiked about 400 miles on the AT, so I have experience. Just looking to make some friends and get the lay of the land. The figure 8 is a little over 20 miles.

Delurking to help out...I have hiked the figure 8 twice, but my last time was more than ten years ago. There are only a couple of hills, none strenuous. There are some small winter views, but nothing spectacular. There are designated campsites. The forest is heavily traveled by boy scouts most of the year. The last time I went was in February to avoid them (I like solitude).

Had a really amazing hike out in Uwharrie. Met up with a group of trail maintainers, hopefully joining them on a 4 day 40 mile thru hike, in october.
Benzenering - Thanks for the tips. There was certainly some boy scouts out there. The climb up Lick mountain was quite the hump but it was short.
