Lots of people. Thousands and thousands.
But not me, although youngest daughter has gone twice.

I used to want to go, but not as much now. I mean I still want to but it isn't a burning desire anymore.

Never been to Burning Man, but I have experienced the Burning of the Zozobra. I was in Santa Fe attending a passive solar design conference for my job. The Grateful Dead provided the music. It was a rolicking 3 days of commradarie with learning and partying. I used to be tempted by Burning Man, but I decided it might disappoint me after that experience. Send us a postcard if you go.

Not me. I kind of wish now I'd gone when it was just a beach party in SF. No way on the earth would you get me to go join a giant drunken party in the desert in August. (Okay, if I'm honest, I wouldn't go party with that many people in any climate or place. Not even if you paid me. And they've taken to charging a metric poop-ton of money for the pleasure (?), so count me way out. Maybe even far out.

They'd think I was just a dirty old man checking out the neked chicks....They'd be right.

It's still a tempting prospect. We may've gone but it is over Labor Day and I have done a craft show for 28 years.
We've been seeing the boa and fur covered bikes and weird contraptions heading up the highway. In Reno, the stores are loaded up with gallons and gallons of water. And from the craft show, we'll see the white dust covered vehicles stopping by at the park or traveling 395, on their way back home.
I'm interested from an artistic point of view. Art, creativity and invention is a big part of the gathering.
I believe that they offer low income tickets and they have neighborhoods...some even appropriate for families. But you'd still have to explain the naked people to your kids.

It's interesting, that's for sure. From what I've read an ice cream loving penguin would not be out of place, although the ice cream may quickly result in sticky flippers. Thanks in advance for the trip report.

Here is a video which shows a bit more of Burning Man and some of the people there.

...an ice cream loving penguin would not be out of place, although the ice cream may quickly result in sticky flippers. Thanks in advance for the trip report. Two penguins were on their way to Burning Man when their car broke down in the desert. Not knowing much about cars, they decided to walk a short ways back the road to an ice cream stand they had just passed. When they returned to the car, a state trooper was under the hood checking out their engine, he looked up and said, "It looks like you've blown a seal." Both penguins quickly wiped their beaks and said, "No, no, it's just ice cream."
