Starwalker here. I'm a school librarian who is married to Little Cherokee who is a school cook. We are both in our 60's and have hiked, mostly in the Kiamichi's in southeastern Oklahoma. We are both homebodies and live in a 90 year old log house which we are renovating and adding on to. We are both rather weird as we are evangelical Democrats. I personally love baseball, and have been a KC fan since George Brett was in high school. We love to travel, staying preferably somewhere in the scenic rural or small town areas of our country rather than in the urban areas. Our last trip was to Gatlinburg where we stayed in town, but spent our time in the Smokies, acting as trail angels helping a pair of hikers get to town so they could have a room for a break before they continued on.
We are both in good health compared to most our age. Carol has the newest knees in the area, having had knee replacement surgery last month and is looking forward to getting out in the woods again.

I'm an Episcopal priest living in the Texas Hill Country, where I've lived pretty much my whole life. I've always been a nature lover, my first real in with nature was birding, a hobby I still love today. I am also a lifelong flyfisher, hiker, camper, and backpacker. I am blessed to be married to a woman who shares my interests, and we now have a 6 year old who is growing into a pretty good camper himself. I also enjoy canoe camping on remote Texas rivers. My backpacking excursions have been relatively limited since becoming a father, but I still get away on at least a couple of 4-5 day trips a year, usually with my dog, Floyd. New Mexico is the closest good backpacking, so I spend a fair amount of my vacation time there. I would probably be described as a progressive Christian, though I personally think that an all inclusive community motivated by love and grace rather than doctrine and judgement is much closer to the teachings of Jesus and the early church than what most of us Christians have practiced since the time of Constantine. I also believe that a fulfilled life is not possible for those who are separated from nature, it is what God created for us and created us for. I really love my job.

Okay, I'll jump in here I joined the Forums in 2003, so I've been around for a while. I was originally going by the name Woodswoman, but with the new Forums I shortened it to Woodsie (that's what everyone was calling me anyway). I live in Colorado Springs, and LOVE Colorado! I love hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and yes, even car camping. Looking for wildflowers and wildlife are a couple of my favorite things to do. I am very patient and can watch wildlife/birds for hours. Another passion of mine is photography. I am very much an amateur, but I enjoy snapping the pics and sharing them. When at home, I like to read or browse through wildflower and bird guides. I turned 60 last January, so my hikes are getting shorter and easier, but nothing makes me happier than to be outside, so I'm good with slowing it down. I am out there to enjoy myself, even if I only go a couple of miles (I stop a lot to take pics and enjoy whatever is around me). As they say, Hike Your Own Hike
