Ah I see now. Well cool beans. So far this forum seems to be more stable from what I have seen, but I haven't been on it religiously - just every now and then when I get the bug for backpacking or gear questions. Thanks for the efforts.

We have 50K BPs and that's good enough for me. Plus one newt, one hiking tiger, one woods pouncer, one ice cream loving penguin, one guy who walks with blackflies, one guy who swims with trout, a beaver with a limp... In the old days we even had a wiccan with an orange octopus on her head. Yeah, I think we've got a quorum. |

I'd like to see a complete history of the forum changes. I know I've been on here a long time, and I remember something about an AOL? forum which was the original backpacker magazine forum. I got on here after it was changed from that, I know that. There seem to have been a number of changes, a couple or three complete bombs, and then this one which is the best I've seen. Through it all, there has been one constant, bp2go.

What an interesting history indeed! When AOL offered a section for Backpacker, I started posting, participating using a 2300 baud modem. There came to be a discussion about which of two stoves was the better choice, and I watched with interest as the discussion went on for days. Since at the time I was also working in a backpack shop, I owned both stoves. I got things set up, got a two Nalgenes of tap water, and started my test: I kept track of times from priming and lighting each stove, then bringing the water to a rolling boil. With stats in hand, I wrote a "field report" and ended with the fact that both stoves were very good stoves, ended with the suggestion people get either one and go hiking! I got an email from Backpacker, telling me that there was going to be a new place on this new Internet thing. Would I like to be a moderator? Obviously I was interested, said sure, and they asked me to pick a name that started with BP so they could pick out anything I posted. I I decided I was ready to go, so "bp2go: was created. Now more than 20 years later, I run the place! Pretty funny. |

Hey Ruben things have been good lately. Trevor had a hip replacement last Fall and had some issues following but knock on wood 2016 has been all good. Great to hear from you.
