Ha! No one’s posted here since my last venture to the Southern Hemisphere? Well, here I am again! Mt. Fitzroy (Patagonia, Argentina) as we approached 2 days ago. Cerro Torre (Fitzroy’s neighbor) this morning at sunrise. It sits back closer to the Patagonian ice sheet and seems to spend most of its time in the clouds. We were lucky to see it this morning before it retreated again. I enhanced this just a bit to make the textures of the clouds stand out. This is looking downwind (away from the peaks and the ice sheet).

While skiing this past Saturday, we were witness to a sun halo, light pillars, and Polar Stratospheric Clouds; the latter being very rare in the northern hemisphere. As my daughter described "It's like gasoline in a puddle". Example polar stratospheric clouds (photo not mine):

walkswithblackflies , we saw that colorful cloud phenomenon a few days ago, though less dramatically. It was mostly visible through polarized sunglasses, so I shot a photo through my sunglass lens.
