If there's one thing people in the northeast talk about all the time, it's the weather. So I thought a nice first post for the Northeast Forum would be a post with some great mountain top weather resources for those of us who backpack in the White Mountains, Green Mountains, and Adirondacks. To keep an eye on the mountains in Vermont and upstate New York, I've found the National Weather Service Mountain Point Forecast to be the best resource available. It enables you to keep on eye on the forecast for specific mountains, like Camel's Hump in VT or Whiteface in NY. When backpacking or hiking in New Hampshire, I tend to keep an eye on the weather using Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS) Experience the Weather resources. The MWOBS site gives you all sorts of information on current conditions, regional forecasts, and historical data. If you have any other resources, please share them here. It would be nice to build on this information and add more. We could even add snow and foliage reports to help people with trip planning.

I use Intellicast app almost exclusively for weather reports and forecasts. It's customizable and you choose what you want to see.

Since we're entering the winter season, I thought it might be a good time to add the National Weather Service's Snow Page to this list. This is really helpful letting backpackers and hikers in the Northeast know about snow depths, recent snowfall, and the snow forecast.

Thanks for those Vino and WWB. I hadn't seen the mountain point forecast. It looks like it will be useful in combination with the the NWS's clickable map (which lets you check out locations and altitudes along an entire route as you search around and focus in): www.weather.gov/gyx/Also essential for winter planning are the clickable trail condition reports for most hiking areas of New England at trailsnh.com/NWS snow depths are also helpful when trails haven't been broken out: www.weather.gov/nerfc/snowSummit and trailhead forecasts for pretty much any mountain anywhere can be had at www.mountain-forecast.com/ - but I find MWS to be more accurate.

If there's one thing people in the northeast talk about all the time, it's the weather. The weather is pretty much what everyone everywhere in the world talks about obsessively, and the northeastern US certainly has no monopoly on this phenomenon.
Here's a good place to look at the weather:
