All that rain we had in May paid off - the wildflowers are the best I've ever seen in Colorado! Yesterday I did a day hike with Mtngrl and a couple of non-forum friends, to the old 4th of July Mine Site in the Indian Peaks Wilderness. This is a very popular trail, so parking can be a challenge. Get an early start (to grab a parking spot and to get out of the high country before the afternoon storms roll in). It's 2 miles of steady climbing up to the mine site. From there, it's another mile to the top of Arapahoe Pass (11,906 ft). Mtngrl and I opted to hang out at the mine site while our friends went on up to the pass.
