The Blackwater State Forest section of the Florida Trail is a great example of a Long Leaf Pine forest. Long Leaf Pines used to cover the southeastern US but sadly less than 2% remain today.

Lovely photo - interesting that all the trees are quite straight except for the one slightly left of center. I couldn't help thinking of it as the conductor of an orchestra, raising his/her hands as he/she assesses the orchestra, and all the musicians wait patiently for the performance to begin. I've frequently thought of seasons as akin to movement in a symphony. Given the rich autumn hues of the grasses, I think this symphony is close to the final overture.
