I've been using an REI Flash 18 for quite a few years now. On backpacking trips, I use it as a stuff sack for my sleeping bag, then use it for day hikes from basecamp sites. It works okay, but is pretty heavy and bulky, so I am considering options to replace it. Leading candidate at this point is a Riksack. Other possibilities include a Zero Backpack, which looks really nice, but costs quite a bit more, or possibly a Sea to Summit Ultrasil Daypack. Anyone have any experience with any of these? I rarely carry very much on these side trips, typically a liter or two of water, a bit of food, and a jacket, and occasionally my flyfishing gear.
