A buddy and I are heading to the Winds in early September. First stop will be in the Big Horns and we are thinking of either just car camping for a few days or hiking in somewhere if we find the right type of hike. I was looking into the Misty moon lake trail that leads to Misty moon lake. We are thinking of hiking to the lake and setting up camp for two nights. I figured since we are new to backpacking this would be a nice hike to get us ready for the Winds. I don't think we will have time to head to cloud peak but was wondering if other areas right around Misty moon lake are worth checking out for a few days? Any information on that area would be great.
Thanks!

Here's some info for you: A few years ago the BNF decreed that you need to carry out your own poo if you're in the West (and Middle) Tensleep Creek drainages. special poop order

Scoonie-
We hiked a Big Horns a couple years back. If you are trying to get up to Mistymoon, I would car camp at West Tensleep Lake and then use the trailhead there to hike up to Mistymoon. You could always hike over to Bomber Mountain from Mistymoon.
