So we will enter backcountry at Yosemite Creek Campground TH to the falls and days later exit at Porcupine Flat. Plan A is to leave the car at Yosemite Creek and catch the shuttle from Porcupine. There is only one chance to board the shuttle in the afternoon so if we miss it then what? Aside from hitchhiking, any alternatives? If I left the car at Porcupine instead and hiked back to Yosemite Creek Campground, what is the route and mileage? Is this a sound alternative?

The road mileage from Porcupine to Yosemite creek is 4 miles. I'd have 1 of your group hitch hike. Rides are frequently offered to backpackers. Just leave all of your gear with whomever is staying behind.

The distance between Porcupine Flat and Yosemite Creek campground is 3.3 miles. (Tom Harrison map on my iPhone) Why not just close the loop?
As to the route? it's laid out on the map. Which even for on trail routes is a necessity to have with you.
The other datum is the roadside Yosemite Creek trailhead is 2.1 trail miles from the campground. So messing with busses saves about a mile..... While getting dropped off at the intersection of the campground road and Tioga Rd. is longer, maybe 8 miles and the access road is a largely one lane dirt forest road.
