Lost Trail is on our to-do list, thanks for the report. Did you run into lots of people? We try to avoid the crowds and worry that the popularity of the Lost Trail might make for less solitude than we prefer.

It was quite crowded and didn't have the solitude I was expecting. Hiking for miles in the sand and loose gravel is tedious. Scenery is beautiful.

We hiked through quite a bit of loose sand in Zion (Hop Valley, mainly) and it was really tedious and annoying. But I think if I was prepared mentally for that, it would be okay, at least for a while. Bummed to hear there is little solitude to be had there. It really seems like a unique hike.
