Hi all,
Late this summer my Lady and I have two weeks of vacation to use. We would love to do a 4-5 day hike somewhere in Colorado, Utah, or Montana. We are both physically fit and want to do something fairly rugged with some decent summits and a few mountain lakes along the way. I have been doing a bunch of google searching but I would rather have first hand advice about where to go and what to do. This would be our first camping trip in the mountain states we live in Indiana so we mainly stick around Michigan, Tennesee, to the gulf coast area.
So far we have looked at the Wasatch range in Utah.
Maroon Bells in Colorado,
and Glacier National park in Montana.
Any advice or first hand experiences would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advanced.

Focus on an area, going to Glacier would eat up a LOT of time. Curious why you left out our Wyoming?
IMO the glory of Colorado is the Sangre de Cristo Range. Like our Wind Rivers it has dramatic peaks and AWESOME lakes full of trout. My favorite is up out of Crestone, maybe North Crestone Lake Night one. Then get higher and eventually over the crest at the Phantom Terrace. Spend some time at Venable Lakes. 3-4 GLORIOUS nights
I just did a great overnight in the Absaroka. Between the Winds, Gros Ventre, Absaroka, Hobacks, and Tetons we have great long range backpacking.

Absoraka-Beartooth Wilderness area of southern Montana, specifically the eastern portion of the Beartooths. Everything you're looking for plus a drive through Yellowstone and the Lamar Valley on the way. Google it.
