in fact, that was my first overnighter in the Park.....
and that was back in 1999 or so-----so its been a while since ive been back in those parts...
but, from my memory----its not a bad site.......it certainly is not the worst site in the park...........

69 and 28 are two of my least favorites. both are uncomfortably small in way that probably wouldn't matter if you had the site all to yourself, but...
28's also on a way overused horse trail that gets ugly in bad conditions.

47----while beautiful, its small....
16----not really appealing........not a good water source.....
and any shelter.....
let me think some more....

no......
for me it wasnt a very good site........we did go up there in winter though, so everything was damp.........not many spots to put a tent down it seemed.......
i however really enjoyed 69............and i had the spot that was along the trail and not up on the hill for that one......
for 28----cross the creek and its more of a regular campsite than the horse site on the front side.....

yeah, I guess context is important here. we pulled into 28 after 6-7 miles of rainy day hiking and woke up the next morning to horses tromping through our site not 10 feet away. on the way in we actually went the wrong way up Thunderhead Creek for about a mile before I realized my mistake.

Deep Creek 57 & 60 are the worst sites I've been to in the park. More of a product of who typically stays at them than layout, location, or drainage though.
