I could chalk it up to people hating the Yankees, but I don't think it's possible for anyone to dislike Yogi Berra.

You would think they would have voted him in on performance merit alone, but there are plenty of accounts of yogi berra being extremely unfriendly and often over the top rude while doing publicity time for the Yankees.

He more recently spent a lot of time with the Mets, which might have lost him Yankees votes.

Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Johnny Bench and Sandy Koufax. As much as I like Yogi and the way he played, I don't think he was as good as those four players. You could have an argument about Koufax as he didn't last as long as the others, I guess.

Johnny Bench was a great player and revolutionized the catcher position, but he is completely overshadowed by Yogi Berra.
Willie Mayes is the greatest player to ever put on a pair of spikes, IMO. He is also the most complete player ever.

As Yogi would say: "There are some people who, if they don't already know, you can't tell 'em."
