I did my first solo overnight car camping trip! I started with a 9 mile hike in the Armstrong Redwoods (Amazing!), then stayed at a local KOA. What I learned: Have a backup plan for dinner Wind makes it really hard to set up a lightweight tent I can start (and maintain) a fire! My gear all worked well, and I slept better than I expected to.
In the end, I think what was the most exciting was that I could comfortably go a little wilder. I'm already working on the next trip. After months of wondering how it would go, I'm excited and feeling pretty confident.

Way to go! I will add, that I never felt as comfortable solo car-camping as I did solo backpacking. I trust the animals more than I trust the people.

Excellent! Testing skills and gear in a controlled area is a great way to become more comfortable with the idea of going solo when you're ready.

Awesome! Best thing I've heard all day, actually.
