The beauty of this place only remains because it is accessible only on foot, a 12 km hike from the road head. Most established Himalayan treks resemble the trail of marching ants, so it is very difficult to find solitude. I managed a trail all to myself partly by design, in that I went early enough to be slightly off season; and partly by default in that being off season I got caught in a very heavy rain and snow storm on the first day. This sent what few Trekkers that had ventured out, scurrying for safety. It was a beautiful trek with heavy cloud and the sighting of a colourful and relatively rare bird, the Himalayan Monal. Please read a photoblog about My trek here And a photoblog on the wonderful People I met in the Tirthan Valley is here
