Adirondak Loj Rd Cascade Lake Just back from a 2-Day backpack. I did the Lake Road from St Huberts, to the Gill Brook trail. Very pretty trail, up along the stream. I was planning to stay at one of the designated sites by Fish Hawk Cliffs, but two were already taken, and the third was too muddy. I kept going to the site at Elk pass. It was not the most scenic site I've stayed at, but it was starting to rain, so I set up camp. When I left the next morning, I discovered there was a nicer site about a hundred yards further up the trail. AMR Gate Lake Rd I had originally planned to try Colvin and Blake, but not wanting to backtrack I continued on to Nippletop and Dial. Thursday was cloudy, but Friday was really nice. Nippletop View from Dial summit Trails were a bit muddy in spots, but there were few bugs. One of the nicest views was from this point just past Bear Den Mt. So to sum up, two great hikes, one rainy night in a crappy campsite. As they say, better than being at work! And definitely greener.
