A Walk in the Woods is one of my all time favorite "outdoors books" and so I felt compelled to do a write up and review of it, along with some thoughts the more serious parts of it provoked: A Walk in the Wood Review

I had mixed feelings about the book, which alternately made me laugh and want to give Bryson the biggest dope-slap ever.

My favorite part of the book was on the trail when Katz was asked a stupid question by a pesky woman hiker:
Mary Ellen(To Katz): "So what is your star sign?" Katz: "Cunnilingus."

I liked it. I watched the movie, in my tent, in my living room for the full effect.

Thank god bc my other friends think I'm nuts. This is something we all must bear. And no question it's part of why we hang out here.

Which probably attests to a certain degree of sanity.

I read the book and watched the movie twice. At times I thought Nick Nolte might not make it to the end of the movie. Poor guy lol!
I loved when Katz flung out the coffee filters, and they were using TP to make coffee.

I actually watched it last night, on my laptop in my tent out in the back yard... I wanted to get the full effect....

Old thread, I know, but I liked the book. I liked how Bryson mentioned a lot of stuff regarding the National Parks system that has been done that you never hear about.
The movie was decent too. They couldn't have picked a better person to play Mary Ellen.
