No, but then I have no desire to hike any of the long trails, at least not any more. Too old.
As for the Alaska trail, too many damn biting, flying, things.

Please delete hike and replace with ride. Like on my motorcycle via the Dalton Highway.

I don't know. I might. But probably not. I'm even less fond of flying, biting things than Zeke is.

Do I have to be Trans to hike it? Your profile photo qualifies you. Rumi

OK, I guess I'll be the first to admit that hiking across Alaska intrigues me far more than the other long trails. It would probably be a logistical nightmare, and the brown bears are more daunting than their smaller, more skittish relatives. On the other hand, I've loved every minute of Alaska hiking I squeezed in over the years, mosquitoes and all.

I'd like to hike Alaska, maybe even homestead Alaska, if I could get away from housing developments. But this trail sounds like a mixed bag of pros and cons. This quote from the article leaves me scratching my head a little: To each his or her own, but when I think of the "austere beauty" of Alaska, it sure doesn't include the Alaska pipeline.

Eh, we'll do it in winter. No bugs, no problems. Across Alaska in 80 Days. Who's with me? Tigger? A nice winter jaunt across Alaska...Sounds relaxing. I'll start packing.

I have MSR EVOS I wonder what the max low temp they can withstand is? Would they crack? I've used them sub zero, but only day use not extended trips.

Wintertime means pulks right? These days, it really depends on the length of the journey. I've got my winter weight down 26lbs with food and beer for a weekend so the last few trips, I haven't bother to pulk. If we start throwing in a few steaks, and add 785 miles, I might have to adjust my pack or bring a pulk.
