Glacier Point road has opened and Monitor Pass has reopened.
I drove up through Reno and across Hwy 70. The snow is melting fast. The Walker River through the canyon is a silty tan color and probably at peak. Lake Oroville rose between Sunday and today, but the waterfalls in the Feather River Canyon slowed in those few days.
My bro-in-law flew by the Sierra Tuesday and was dismayed at the apparent lack of snow.
speacock...I gots the location-location-location, but have settle for life in a single wide mobile home. Wouldn't trade it, though.

Thank you very much. Are you getting rain today?

Didn't expect rain, after this year's El Nino and our rain shadow blocking most of the precipitation. But we did get a tenth inch rain here in Round Valley and I heard Bishop got some hail. Mammoth got a few inches of snow. Just a dusting of snow on the Wheeler Crest and it is already gone this morning.
If you like wind, we had more of that!
I imagine Monitor Pass closed again.

Yosemite closed Glacier Point Road ahead of time, in anticipation of the storm. Right now, the YNP website says the road is open,

Yeah, they usually try to get that road open for fishmas, which is Saturday. We'll see what this little storm will bring and if it changes things
...hmmm, I might have to go up there and check it out for myself. Plus, Mono Cone should be open by tomorrow or Friday so I could get my first buttermilk shake of the year

Have to say part of the attraction of Murphey's is it's across the street from Mono Cone!

More snow/rain forecast to southern Sierra soon. But these are the same fellas that got me looking into plans for an Ark.

Rock Creek Lake Fishmas Eve 29 April 2016
Snow almost completely covering the road from the pack station to Mosquito Flat. (Snow completely clear from Tom's Place to pack station. Not used to the road being in such good condition after winter...no pot holes, etc...)

Those pictures look wonderful. It's been raining on and off the past few days. I can't wait for warm weather to hit. A 75 degree day sounds oh so good.

Postholer.com is still showing some passes at pretty high SWE (snow water equivalents) as of today. Such as, the JMT Tr jct Rea lakes at 250% and Kerseage pass at almost 316%.
I'll be bringing an ice axe and microspikes to the Sierra's in a few weeks...
