About the time of the infamous mine spill on the Animas, I started a backpack trip going looping near the CT/CDT intersection. Should have done a trip report then, but work called. Here's some pics and commentary as I kind of forgot to make a trip report. I had a number of trip reports and linked pictures on the old site, but had a problem with the pictures being deleted (and of course I didn't save them on a hard drive). Looks like my account is reactivated so these new ones were taking by an iPhone 5s. Hope this motivates some plans... Early snack break! Why we hike. Some areas still had snow in mid-August after a wet winter ('14-15) The intersection of the CT/CDT - started my loop at Beartown though... Starting the loop, but there was a lot of beetlekill, so I opted to save my battery power Returning later, a storm threatened. Anyways I will have more pictures as I recover them and more notes over at "trip reports"

Beautiful scenery. But it makes me itch big time, itch to place my feet on those trails, itch to breathe the air, itch to sleep on that ground. Dog gone it! Now look what you've done!

Dang but it's gorgeous there. But it makes me itch big time, itch to place my feet on those trails, itch to breathe the air, itch to sleep on that ground. Ditto, Travis!

I just realized that I've hiked past that first intersection before, in thundersnow on the fourth of July. It was a wonderful day. I wish I still had the pics.

Highland Mary is a nice hike I've done a few times. Had some pretty crazy parties in Cunningham Gulch 30 years ago. Stony Pass one of the best drives out there.
Thanks for sharing man.
