I'm curious if there are any current owners of the Osprey Exos 58 that would be willing to give me your thoughts on it?
Last week I walked into rei not really planning on buying a pack because I've been really happy with my current setup. But out of curiosity I started looking at packs and ended up loading about 35lbs into the exos 58 and walked around the store for a few minutes. I couldn't believe how comfortable it was. I've never complained about pack fit before but I haven't had anything come close to feeling this nice on my back.
However, I didn't have my gear with me to stuff in it. I bought it with the the thought of getting it home and chucking it full of my gear to see if I still feel the same way as I parade around the house and probably the yard. This is what I'm going to do this sunday. If I end up with neutral feelings about it I'll return it but I was really happy with it in the store. Supposedly the weight limit is 40lbs which I will probably be close to a lot of the time unless it's just a weekend trip.
Anyone here with real use experience with this pack? Pro and cons?

None of the Osprey packs worked for me. They were comfortable in the store but on the trail they became painful. The frame kills my hips.
Plenty of people wear them with good results. I cannot.

Years ago I purchased an Osprey Aether 70 online. I used it once then sold it on ebay. Thanks for your input. It wasn't a pack that I really needed so it may go back. I just haven't had time yet to put my gear in it and walk around the house/yard.

Put your gear in it and take a walk. You'll know if it is for you soon enough.

I love my Osprey Aura 65, but can't speak for the Exos. Thankfully REI has an amazing return policy so give it a good try and see how you feel!

I'm curious to hear how it turns out for you. I'm researching for a new pack and have that one bookmarked.

I like my Osprey Aether 60, but I notice the newer versions keep getting heavier. One reason they added a seperate sleeping bag compartment. It is the only internal frame pack I have owneed , or than some ski packs and kelty packs for day use (which were heavier than my Osprey so I no longer have them. It carries allot including skis, so I am happy with it. Dont know anything about the Exos.

To bring some closer to this thread I ended up returning the pack. I was trying to get ready for last my hike and I just couldn't find a good way to lash my Ridgerest to the bottom of the bag so back it went. I'm kinda sad because I really like the mesh suspension system it felt really nice and was hoping it aide letting my back keep drying when I'm hiking as it sweats like a pig, even in cooler weather.

Personally, the EXOS looked nice at REI but didn't fit me either...hurt my back/shoulders. My long-time hiking buddy (ex-SEKI Ranger) loves his (up to 35 pounds). He likes it so much, he bought two, as one is constantly being sent in to Osprey for fixing. Have seen lots of mesh tears, suspension breaks, clip failures - all on one 2-week trip. IMHO, a great pack if low weight, and you don't go out long, or hard. YMMV.
