I'm looking for a week long 50 mile hike through LPNF, either Dick Smith or Piedra Blanca wilderness. Any suggestions?

We already discussed my choice of loops in the San Rafael Wilderness. Maybe part of the Condor Trail - www.condortrail.com/Some of the roads close in winter (Grade Valley, Pine Mtn) and the very high country gets snow. Dick Smith has some notoriously nasty trails. This site may also be helpful - www.hikelospadres.com/

Thanks toejam. I am evaluating your suggestions ... still waiting to receive the Dick Smith Wilderness Map from Bryan Conant. I just received the San Rafael Map but haven't looked at it yet.
I actually only posted this again to try out the new forums.
By the way, what makes the Dick Smith trails nasty?

They are overgrown and hard to find. The best trails get very little care. The worst (Don Victor Valley) Bryan can't even follow. But keep researching - this is a great winter destination. Have you looked into the Ventana Wilderness?

I do have a map of Big Sur / Ventana but I thought that it would be too cold (and probably rainy) in November. Of course my impression could be totally wrong.

Hi Toejam, I've finally looked at the map and your photos carefully and I think the Lower Sisquoc Loop looks great! I was also considering an Uppser Sisquoc Loop to Lower Bear, Bear and Upper Bear but might as well go with the popular loop as it seems like the trail isn't always obvious. Is the Hurricane Deck Trail along the ridge an actual trail or more of a suggestion?
