As Epic Adventure 2016 nears I find myself searching for the latest gear "needs". I usually, weather permitting, hike in a Mountain Hardwear skirt. This summer am thinking of a Macabi skirt, the ones that become pants with a little clip. Any of you happen to have one, or even seen one? They look interesting....

I've seen ads for them...that's about all. They are intriguing. If you get one, let us know how it works out!

I've been hiking in Macabi skirts for at least 8 years (in SouthCentral Alaska). My legs get hot while hiking and my skin does not like sun, so the skirt does the trick. Most of my hiking is on established trails, but if I go off-trail or if the brush is wet, I use the clip that makes the skirt sort of like loose pants. The pockets are very big and includes a zippered pocket where I keep my driver's lic. and car key. It is designed for a passport.
I think it is made of supplex nylon and it dries very fast. The color I use for hiking is Red Grape (because I sometimes sit in fields of berries and prefer to keep that a secret). I bought one in navy to use at work (because it gets hot there too). The hiking skirt only shows some pilling where the pack belt rubs. Otherwise, it looks like new.
Looking at the date of your post, this is probably too late, but maybe it can help someone else.

I had one! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I ended realizing I am not a skirt type, but they were well made.
