I posted this photo several years ago, titled "It's not who you think" I worked for several summers as the senior hiking director at Cheley Camp Colorado, back in the mid 70's, and had the joy of being paid ( sort of),for taking 8-12 HS aged "kids" hiking/ BP in RMNP/IPW. Allen was my favorite camper and reminded me of my younger brother, so I instantly took him under my wing and enjoyed several summers together doing a lot of climbing. Some authorized, but most not. 4-5 yrs ago we reconnected through FB, and he profusely thanked me for the time I spent with him. We always talked about trying to get together to do "One More" climb. Allen was diagnosed with MS 2 yrs ago, but it's been escalating the past year. He fell 2 days ago, and just died of a brain hemorrhage. F&%k MS !!

Died young but had a richer life for his time in the outdoors. Farewell Allen.

So sorry, SWT, you obviously had a very special relationship, so hard to lose someone who was more little brother than friend. As I always say, we can't really control the quantity of our life, only the quality. You helped give him a very high quality of life during his too short time. RIP, Allen.

SWT, such a poignant photo, taken at the outset of a young man's life, really brings home what a precious but temporal gift life is.
RIP dear "boy"...
