Thanks for the link. Fletcher did so much to help define backpacking and outdoor adventures, in general. The link is blocked here at work, so I'll check it out later this evening.

I liked the Thousand Mile Summer and The Man Who Walked Through Time. I won't say that they changed my life, but they are both good reads, and have had a positive impact on our culture...
But I also found myself thinking about Colin Fletcher the man, and how he somehow seemed to walk himself out of the rest of his life. He was clearly happier on the trail than when he was interacting with people close to him.
