What, only 3 decimal places? Less than 1,000 words? Travis, I'm disappointed in you. That post is not up to your usual standards. I'll make it up to you later.

I'm often running into equipment that uses some metric and some American units, so one way or the other, I need to be familiar with both. I hear that. I need metric and SA tools to work on my Chevy Silverado, plus whatever system those torx sockets belong to.

I think we went about it all wrong. Absolutely.

I think we went about it all wrong. We should have gone hardcore and just switched. It would have been total immersion, the best way to learn any new language.

When I was in grade school we were taught the metric system Me, too. But now, some 55 years later, the only thing that comes in metric containers is my liquor.

That's probably why I'm not an engineer. Depending on the type of engineer, you'd be surprised ;-) I round off numbers all the time for the sake of convenience. Almost always conservatively (i.e. up for loads, down for strengths). meaning liter size milk cartons, 4-liter size milk jugs, 100ml size toothpastes, etc., etc.. Well, don't forget the 1.33L milk bags and the 80mL toothpastes.
