Hi there, I'm planning a 3 day hike in the backcountry of Colorado in middle of august:
would like to receive good recomendations of such hikes wich are up to 4 hour drive from denver. my intention is to finish the hike in a natural spring (preferably warm) area where I could spend the weekend.
also, would like to know of usful books for planing the hike...
thank you very much, buzz

You could also hike the western side of Rocky Mountain National near Granby and then drive over to Hot Sulphur Springs on hiway 40. You will have to pay about 25 bucks, but they have like 15 different pools there.

The Sangre De Cristos and Valley View hot springs are within your desired range....barely, but well worth the drive.

Valley View is awesome and very reasonably priced, you might need to know its naked soaking. Some of the most beautiful hikes in the known Universe rise out of Crestone. Hike in to below Willow Lake, dayhike/climb Challenger/Kit Carson. Arrange a shuttle toWestcliffe and hike over the top. One of the greatest regions you will ever go.
