Not me. I'll be biting the dust, er, after I suffocate under some ash dunes 20 feet high. You always have to be first, don't you? Yeah, I know. Darn ego gets me every time.

In that scenario, it might be better to be first.

In that scenario, it might be better to be first. Nice to know there's a bright side to this grave tale.

Pigeons aren't bad, but it's basically only the breast meat...not much meat in the drumsticks. It takes quite a few of them to make a meal.

We had a zebra on the loose for a while here in the Seattle area last month. It might have been fair game if you’d gotten to it first?

I have eaten a wide range of meats, from warthog, ostrich, kudu, impala, springbok and others in Africa to assorted organ meats, to horse, guinea pig, alligator, goat, guinea fowl, etc.
But I was on a trip once with a friend and wine colleague who is also a professor of internal medicine at Harvard. As the rest of us chowed down on tripe, liver, brains, and pigs feet, I noticed he wasn't eating the brains, and asked him why.
Prions.
After a short an educational discussion (they are deadly and accumulate in the brain) I don't eat brains either. YMMV.

New Mexico will allow you one shot at imported South African Oryx .. if you have 5k for the hunting permit. People have lived on “bushmeat”, but our industrial food processors excel at marbling and other techniques to make stuff tasty. Then there’s the rangy taste that can be further altered by what the animal ate prior. It’s doubtful that groundhog will substitute for a Big Mac. …
I've had sheep brain, and it was great, albeit prepared in a fancy restaurant.
To each their own. Researchers are finding a plant based diet is better for the environment and increasingly for people. One study found it cuts down the prevalence of Parkinson’s which is enough to send me looking for a bag of nachos and a cold beer (plant food, amirite?). parkinsonsnewstoday.com/news/healthy-plant-based-diet-lowers-parkinsons-risk-uk-study/Oh shoot, they put “healthy”as a qualifier in there So enjoy your bean dip, hippies.

I’ve eaten quite a few gnats when they are in season… When I was a kid, a wasp flew into my mouth. My reflexive action was to swallow it. After I did that, I could not stand honey on anything for years. It had a similar but bitter taste.

Back a few generations, some Americans ate horses People still do in the US. I know I have. I can tell you that if you get ground meat from some food banks, it isn't always beef. It can be venison, horse and lord knows what else. But food is food.

Not highly processed. But I get it, ncho cheese chips taste a lot better than raw kale does. Lol. One of the real issues is most people don't do enough physical work anymore, but eat like they do. Eating steak isn't an issue if you worked for 12 hours a day in hard labor. I go by the theory of lots of produce, grains and some protein. Avoid seed oils and any fat that is highly processed. It may or may not protect me. Probably won't. But I am trying.

I have to fight to not eat the whole batch in one sitting.
