REI reports another year of losses

To set the “macro” stage, .. the economy is softening due to Fed action against inflation.. as even McDonald’s warned consumers are close to cracking.

If people are skipping McD’s devilish delicious fries, they are probably cutting back on outdoor gear. Also there was a splurge … so casual users probably have full gear closets.

Also the numbers.

Retail woes took a toll on outdoors retailers across the board last year.



Sounds like REI suffered a proportionate loss, but it makes up much of the US outdoor market. So the loss should be in line as they are not that special.
