Glad they were able to extinguish the fire when they did. I hope they can manage to repair and reopen soon.

At least it survived. Unlike the day lodge at Hurrican Ridge 2 years go :(

I’m happy it was contained, that’s a favorite building. Fire is a constant hazard. I was interested to learn the Ahwahnee was constructed with its “log“ detail formed from concrete just to reduce the risk of fire.

I've been there a handful of times, first in about 1977, and most recently when it was largely closed for renovations. I'm glad it wasn't worse.
