I’m getting more impressed with Mazda lately. My niece, neighbor and several of my hiking buddies are driving Mazda vehicles. I’ve rented several Mazda models over the years to use while working away from where I live (detailed out for extended assignments), and I’ve really enjoyed the way they drive. Excellent suspension, great looks and the best color red of any car maker. In addition to the CX-5, I really like their CX-30; it’s a really nice vehicle at a great price. If I didn’t have my truck, I’d probably get a Mazda. Any Mazda fans here? I starting to see more CX-50s on the road. Nice to see they’re all AWD now, too.
Regards,
DR

Even though I buy a new car once every 10 years or so, I always keep up with new models. Mazdas always get great reviews for sporty handling and upscale interiors for the class. In 2016 I test drove a 3 hatchback before deciding on my VW Golf. The usual shortcoming for most Mazdas is cargo space compared to its competitors.

My wife has a CX-5. I can't remember which model year it is, but it's probably 5 years old. I like it. The seats are comfortable, the interior is quiet on the highway (compared to my vehicle, which is a 2005 Jeep Liberty), and it has adequate power. Comparing it to my Liberty, the visibility from the Mazda is not as good, but the backup camera and side mirror blind spot alarms of the Mazda make up for it. Driftwoody mentioned cargo space, and the CX-5 does have less space in the back than my Liberty, mainly because the roof slants down in the CX-5 much more than in the Liberty. Another thing I don't like---but it's kind of minor for us---is that my wife's CX-5 does not have a roof rack, but has a sunroof that we don't need.

My son has a 2008 (I think) Mazda 3 hatchback. He has over a 150,000 miles on it and has abused it continually by taking it places it doesn’t belong. He swears it’s the best vehicle he’s ever had and is going to drive it until the wheels fall off.
