reducing my carbon footprint The Cybeertruck is the final piece of the puzzle in my personal quest to eliminate direct fossil fuel usage for my immediate family. (frantically starts searching for his local Cybeertruck dealer)

reducing my carbon footprint The Cybertruck is the final piece of the puzzle in my personal quest to eliminate direct fossil fuel usage for my immediate family. In our experience, range is not a problem, and we live in rural Montana (90 miles from the nearest stop light). My wife and kids have taken many road trips in the Teslas (over 5000 miles on one trip in 2021). Just checking if reuben quoted you accurately, or the typo was yours. I thought perhaps the beer feature was an accessory available to thirsty passengers. Regarding range, two factors give me pause. Subzero temps like we recently experienced in Chicago, and added travel time for re-charging. Neither are necessarily deal breakers, but I'm intrigued by the potential of solid state batteries which reportedly will have much greater range and less need for precious metals.

I fixed my typo.
IMHO, the tech is plenty good enough (range, temp, etc., etc.). Solid state batteries or fusion power would be great but the climate is changing.

It's Sunday morning, but the Backpacker Bar is apparently open, or about to be so.

The new Lexus is getting a lot discussion in 4Runner forums. I'll stick with my 4R until it can't go or I can't go. How often do you use the capabilities of your 4R in terms of getting to trailheads on roads that would be impossible for my VW Golf? Monetarily, there's a break-even point between a less expensive fuel efficient car for the vast majority of driving vs renting a 4WD vehicle with high ground clearance when the need arises. I have no doubt you need those capabilities much more often than I do. An additional factor is reducing my carbon footprint, the one virtue I see in the Cyber Truck. My next vehicle will likely be an EV, but due to range concerns I'll wait until solid state batteries hit the market in 5 years or so. Meanwhile, I really enjoy driving my zippy little turbocharged hatchback with a 5 speed manual transmission.
So far about 1/4 of its miles are bad road or off road-related, which I expect to increase a lot in the next year. Most of the rest are highway miles getting to those places.
For daily use, I still rely on my 2010 Outback, although it has little life left in it. There's a pretty good chance it has a cracked exhaust manifold.

Oh - the big SUV/truck guy with the lift kit that car camps twice a year in places that a minivan would get to. The same idiots who drive said SUV/truck swerving in and out of traffic 100 MPH nearly killing me to work every day. Don’t get me started. I have a Crosstrek and there have only been a couple times I wished I had more.

Do Cybertrucks have any issues with people taking up the challenge of denting it or breaking its windows while parked? Every review I have watched had either kicking it or running grocery carts into it.
Are they good trailhead cars being like a fortress?

I guess I’ll find out.
There is growing hate toward EVs since they have somehow become a political issue. My daughter drives a Tesla model Y to high school and although most of her peers are nice enough, she has received verbal abuse and threatening driving from men in pickup trucks.

One of the guys at work got a Rivian truck. It has an adaptable suspension that can be set to 14" of ground clearance. I'd rather have one of those off-road than a Cyber Truck.

At the risk of getting abused again On this forum? Inconceivable! My daughter drives a Tesla model Y to high school and although most of her peers are nice enough, she has received verbal abuse and threatening driving from men in pickup trucks. This is horrifying and tragic. I should know better by now. But this kind of crap still breaks my heart. Solid state batteries or fusion power would be great but the climate is changing. This is a very important point. While people like me are waiting around for battery technology to progress, climate change is approaching a point where there may be no turning back. I love my Outback, but we are all going to have to change our lifestyle, if we really want this planet to be habitable to humans into the next century.
