Some nice locations, though… I counted 25 out of 50 in Colorado, mostly the Denver-Boulder area.

Big Agnes got an honorable mention. But so did another organization I KNOW is not a good place to work...
I'd love to see more emphasis on "non-profits" in here. It's not that they don't include them -- #2 GCY is a non-profit (and a good place to work), they just don't identify that it is a not-for-profit. I work with people everyday who have defected from employment that is focused on profit to one that focuses on making an impact on the planet and people's lives. They are generally much happier in purpose-driven work, even though they get paid less and might not receive bennies like, "outdoor adventure retreats (two or three a year)." They have the balance and life design opportunities to pursue what is important to them outside of work....

I think there's a bit of a dichotomy at work here.
The best places to "live" don't have a lot of good "jobs" available.
