Interesting article on life in Norway and the outdoors. A recent study showed 77% of Norwegians get outdoors on a weekly basis; 25% on a daily basis. I know getting outdoors daily makes me feel much, much better. I take a 30-minute walk at the end of my shift at work 5x a week; I also hike 2x a week. My weekly hiking is at an all-time low. I really hate I’m not hiking as much a I have in the past. I know it impacts me both physically and spiritually. Enjoy the article… www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/sep/27/the-norwegian-secret-how-friluftsliv-boosts-health-and-happinessRegards, DR

This reminds me of this book. Well worth the read. Tried to make the image smaller but couldn't figure it out. My apologies.

Or in the words of John Muir: "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks."
"Few places in this world are more dangerous than home. Fear not, therefore, to try the mountain passes. They will kill care, save you from deadly apathy, set you free, and call forth every faculty into vigorous, enthusiastic action."
"I am losing precious days. I am degenerating into a machine for making money. I am learning nothing in this trivial world of men. I must break away and get out into the mountains to learn the news!"

It's pretty similar in Sweden. My Swedish cousins and others I know eat meals outdoors whenever possible, especially breakfast.
Going for a walk is a suggestion that gets unanimous support. They know the names of all the plants and some of them will be eaten before we get back.

Coolcat,
I have that book in my Kindle Library! I need to read it. I’ve heard the author interviewed several times on different NPR shows; interesting stuff. Worth a Google search if you’re interested.
Bigload,
Swedes & Norwegians similar cultures. Very close.
Happy Trails,
