I’ve applied all kinds of hot sauce, cayenne and whatnot on the tomatoes the tree rats half eat. They finish it all.
Nothing can be certain than death, taxes and squirrels.

You have to either hire a professional or check the local laws but death of the squirrels might be the answer. Besides your tomatoes the squirrels are eating baby birds, bird feed, garbage and possibly chewing into people's houses. Getting rid of or at least reducing their numbers would be doing everyone in your area a favor. Did you guess I don't like tree rats?

Damn squirrels have almost chewed threw my garbage cans. Thinking of a BB gun or M-16. Neighbors might complain about that.

I want one of these and a nuisance animal permit.
Here's a much more gruesome video of the A18.

I just checked and that sauce is as hot as bear spray not hotter. So you see a substance that makes a 600-pound apex predator run away & cry like a little girl, and you think " hey, I should put some of that in my mouth"? What other non-lethal weaponry do you munch on? As an aside birds aren't sensitive to capsicum so peppers aren't hot to them. Huh...so are birds the only animals with this ability? Could you sprinkle hot sauce on your bird feed & keep squirrels away? FINALLY! After 15 years...my expertise is finally come in. My masters thesis was over exactly this...well applying it to native plant reconstructions. It DOES work, but it's limited shelf life. Rain, etc will wash it away & you need to apply quite a bit of stuff. Typical hot sauces aren't hot enough. There are commercial capsaicin powders with a Scoville rating of 300,000+. There's some entertaining videos out there of squirrels flipping out after eating treated seed.

So, could you upload this masters thesis & educate these squirrel murderers on how to effectively resist fluffy-tailed terrorism with non-violence? Well...I mean...it doesn't take a masters degree to figure out how to buy a friggin metal garbage can...but at least you could save their precious tomatoes with a bit of a lower death toll, yes?

The city issues plastic garbage receptacles which is a bummer man. I guess I could go to college, get a masters in political science, run for city council. My political campaign would be based on “Change the bins to metal” I’m sure I would get voted in.
Or I could get the A18 squirrel death machine.

Further to that question, what makes you think most politicians have any degree at all?

This could end up heading TPA in a hurry… but sometimes it bothers me that the only qualifications needed to run for office are to be a US Citizen and be 18 (a little older for some offices, like prez). Zero education required. Back when the country was founded, there was a lot less formal education (rich people used tutors, etc) so it was harder to measure, and I get the egalitarian notion, but geez.
Back to the original topic, I wonder if I could do a little hunting and make a nice squirrel and rabbit stew…

The evolution of capsicum in peppers is pretty interesting. The gut of birds is short and fast so pepper seeds pass right through, viable for reproduction, so the birds serve as transportation for the pepper population. The peppers produce vitamins that benefit the birds, resulting in more colorful plumage which benefits their appeal to mates improving their reproductive success. The gut of rodents is a lot more destructive to seeds, so the plant is defending itself with capsicum. People liked them well enough to save the seeds from the plants that they liked and just like marijuana, peppers were made even more potent. So far as I know, nobody has been successful at breeding marijuana with a high capsicum content, but give it a little time.
