So Wednesday of last week something kinda major happened to me, my left eye was removed. I have had a long battle with this eye, trying to live peaceably with it for several years, but on the third of August I was diagnosed with a severe infection that just kept getting worse and morphing into other infections and conditions. Finally to avoid an unscheduled catastrophic loss of my eye, we decided to remove it. Below is a photo of me on the way home from surgery. The slight smile you see on my face is pure oxycodone smile and hasn't been seen since. (More about oxycodone in a later post.) Anyway, when my eye gets looking better I will share a picture of that. After all the swelling and inflammation recede I will begin the process of getting a prosthetic eye. It has been rough the last month and a half, especially the last several days, and I finally feel like sharing this bit of news with you all. I am on this great journey of life and for me this is part of that journey. Many people are more fortunate but even more people are less fortunate than myself. So I just consider this as part of the whole experience and count myself lucky. I am blessed to have Ladyblade to care for me. She has gone above and beyond and her love has buoyed me throughout. I can honestly say I don't know if I would have made it without her. Take care all my friends and I will try to keep you posted with my progress. Rumi

I'm sorry that the world got another piece of you. I hope it prevents anything worse from happening.

I return this Wednesday to the surgeon. Most of the outward swelling has gone, but I still feel tender. My eyelid is still stitched shut. He will remove that stitch. Hopefully soon I can start the sessions with an oculist to get my prosthetic eye.

The stitches which held my eyelids shut were removed yesterday and in an indescribable way, it was so freeing. Really can't fathom how much a difference it made in my mood and outlook on the entire situation. Right now I have in place what is called an eye conformer. It is designed to help the eye heal properly and keep the shape it is supposed to have. I will soon have a custom conformer made and begin the process of building my prosthetic and fitting it. Until then, here is how my eye appears now, kinda like a cyborg eye, just a deep dark eye. Hope you aren't too weirded out by the photos. You can see most of the outward swelling and bruising has gone away, though I am still kinda tender. Rumi

Glad the healing is going well, Rumi. Your positive attitude has to be helping.

I hope the pain is gone, and you have a complete and trouble free recovery.
