I want my tent to be 5" taller. I know what happens if you clamp a 5" section to the bottom of each pole (have done it many times): The peak is 5" higher and the floor is a bit narrower and shorter. Works pretty well, but the clamping and keeping track of extra parts is a nuisance. I'm looking for a permanent solution.
Q1: What would happen if you added a 10" section to a tent pole? (Northface Stormbreak 3). It would have the effect of adding 5" to the pole length on each side of the tent, but . . .
Q2: Would the canopy fabric be able to accommodate it?
Also, the fly coverage at the bottom would be reduced but I'm less concerned about that.
Q3: Anyone ever done this?
