Anyone Familiar with AKU Shoes?

No experience with these models but I checked out a backpacking boot from REI: AKU Alterra. Wrote a review:

Great boot. Just didn't work for me. I am tough to fit. 10 A/B Left and 9.5+ B Right with both arch lengths at 11. I have a fairly high arch. One of the few boots that fits reasonably well are Salomon Quests 4D 3 (11). I purchased size 10.5. Tried hard to get it to fit. The heel box was just too large for me. Those with wider/average feet, particularly in the heel area probably wont have an issue. I tried making up the volume using different inserts, 2 socks on the smaller foot, adding lambs wool around the heel area and under the tongue. Was able to shift heel sideways in the boot and the heel lift was greater than I thought would diminish on break in. One other concern was the fact that the Goretex membrane does not extend to the tongue area. It's not clear if the tongue is already waterproof, but found it odd. You can see it clearly in the photo. I've also noted this in Salewa's Alp Trainers
