What kind of tires are you going to put on it? 10 ply all-terrains? Yes, I'm currently looking at Falken Wildpeak A/T3W. I'm not excited about the extra weight, but my AZ and CO buddies were adamant on that point when I gave some example destinations. It's a TRD Off Road Premium, so it's got nearly all the bells and whistles. I forgot to mention, it came with two features that were late-year additions to that trim line - heated steering wheel and 360 camera with panoramic view display. I hit the lucky window between them installing the features and raising the price. The display ends up being critical because my garage only has 2" clearance on each side mirror, so I have to park it like landing an airplane in a flight simulator. It's hard for me to consistently park to that tolerance just by eyeballing from the driver's seat. On my April AZ/NM trip, I had heated steering wheel on a Jeep and it was a decadent pleasure. During parts of the year, I carry gloves only because of the steering wheel.

Ooooh. My hands would LOVE a heated steering wheel--they tend to get excessively cold at the drop of a... glove.

I’ve a 2017 4Runner trd pro. I’m currently running Goodrich KO2’d and can highly recommend them. Less noise than the stock Nittos and great durability. They rate well for both snow and wet traction as well. They get great reviews which tends to put me off but these live up to the hype. And 60k in there’s over fifty % of tread depth left. One accessory I’d highly recommend, well two I suppose, are some traction plates like ARB treds and a lithium ion battery jump pack. I’ve a NOCO 2000 that is great. I jumped a neighbors truck in a trip out to Mono Lake when they asked if I had cables: they were in their way in 90 seconds (hood was already up) I got it for self rescue when my battery died on a road trip and while I was in a small town I flashed on all the stops I’d made that day on litle forest service roads for photography where AAA would have really not thanked me for dragging them were there even any cell service and the chance of a passerby coming along was low to zero. arbusa.com/recovery/tred/Self recovery options appeal as I don’t ride in groups. Oh, you’ll also need a different jack as the stock one assumes access to center points and in a bogged situation that is unlikely. I got a Hi lift and an accessory hook to lift off my rocksliders, and rockslides I could lift with. Plus an accessory to hook off my wheels to lift to get a tread under them for sand bogging. For other things you might look at national forest orv gear lists. That could mean adding a fire extinguisher etc. mine is rated for solid material fires like brush as well as other fuels to cover more bases.

Those seem to be the second-most popular option. And you're getting great life out of them. traction plates like ARB treds Yep, I have some options on my list for that. lithium ion battery jump pack. I’ve a NOCO 2000 that is great. That's on the list, too. a different jack as the stock one assumes access to center points and in a bogged situation that is unlikely. I got a Hi lift and an accessory hook to lift off my rocksliders, and rockslides I could lift with. Yeah, I'll have to bite the bullet and do a Hi lift. I have noted how many people say they hate using them, which also means all those people had them and had to use them. Another must have, along with a shovel, saw, etc.

I gave up my trailhead truck, Actually TH vehicle as the last was a larger SUV. The big deep and long journeys now are better shared. I pay gas and make sure there is the understanding all except engine and tranny, I will help or share in expense. Last year that meant 1/2 a new tire. The last long approach road trip solo, I did on a mountain bike. And that leads into I am looking at an fat tire ebike and small haul trailer for my car.
