Dot's Pretzels salty, with a hint of heat. There is also a product similar to Cheetos Crunchy, again with some heat. They feature a Southwestern pretzel as well, but I have yet to find it. Small, family owned, from North Dakota. Since I found it in my local grocer here in Florida, I think it may be safe to say they are getting a wide distribution.

These are very popular where they can be found. I've had friends recommend them more than once. Sadly they won't be getting my business as I can't stand the unique taste that pretzels have.

Coolkat Far be it from me to encourage another to start up a habit, but you could try the cheese curl things. No pretzel taste to them.

I'm going to play around with flavoring some regular pretzels. We throw some regular mini pretzels or sticks in with Cape Cod Salt and Vinegar chips bag. They pick up the flavor. I love hot so I'm going to play with some spicy coatings.
Just read a recipe. Melted unsalted butter over the pretzels and mix then coat with spices. Bake 15 mins at 350F on a cookie sheet. I'll let you all know.

ErnieW That sounds similar to how we made chex mix when I was a child.

They’ve been around here for quite a while and are available in nearly every grocery and convenience store. The are good but they are also a bit expensive, IMO.

Don't know why, unless it's a loss leader, but our local mom & pop hardware store sells Dot's for $2/bag less than anywhere else I've seen them. They sell a ton of them. Mostly to me.

When you go get your Dot's do you buy other things when you are there? That extra business pays for the low cost Dot's.

I spend a ton of money at that place (do a lot of repair work side hustle)

Only the really small size. is $2 here, 2 oz, $7-8 for 16oz Edit Still might. be worth it, to spurge on the trail. I often bring smoked salmon, etc.

I'll admit I have a weakness for Dot's. The farm store nearby has the lowest prices I've seen. And they have the cheese doodles flavor, which are my favorite.

I know nothing about the company, its history or their marketing/distribution strategy, but they're not sold in any of the grocery stores where I regularly shop. When I want some, I go to my local Ace Hardware store...

I LOVE my local Ace Hardware. Not just because I can walk in with some weird little piece of broken hardware, "I need one of these." and an old plumber or electrician will walk me over to the bins and fish out a shiny new piece, and give me pointers how not to break this one... My local Ace has the weirdest snacks, drinks and random items. I think they've got about 30 flavors of cream soda, lip balm called Chicken Poop, cat toys... I've gotten rubber bumpers for the top of my sawed-off ski poles, an emergency bike tire tube and Australian licorice in 10 flavors...
I can usually be strong and not walk out with an $8 backflow preventer repair kit and $50 in pretzels, so I reward myself with a couple of Salted Nut Rolls at the check-out.
