Found seven miles out from their trailhead, all okay.
Then there's this: "The girls left no itinerary for where they planned to hike", so they got lucky.

If they had been carrying an InReach or Spot and this would have been a non-event and they probably would have made their flight to Switzerland.

I don't like that the news websites are using the word "vanished" for what happened to them. Is that like David Copperfield vanished, or more like Penn and Teller vanished? Why weren't they just overdue, or lost, or missing?
