Elizabeth Weiss did a nice story in USA Today about how climate change is affecting Yosemite. And while she quoted me in the story (briefly, my 15 seconds of fame) she did a great job of capturing both important details and the big picture. Here is a link to her page and story:https://www.usatoday.com/staff/2647771001/elizabeth-weise/ And if you don't have a subscription to USA Today, here's a link to the story on our website: www.backpackthesierra.com/post/yosemite-in-usa-today-and-a-quote-from-me

In a 107 years the average night time temp has risen 7.6 degrees? That's just horrible. I know that here in the GYE we just do not cool off as quickly or as much as we used to. Dusk wildlife observation is a shadow of what it was not too long ago. I went 60 days without seeing a frost this summer and I was above 9K near dawn several times. The Beetle Kill here is also monumental.
As long as we keep delaying the inevitable task of reinventing civilization in a sustainable model not predicated on growth we are !@#$ed.
Thanks for your post man, and for the work you do.

Climate change and over population should go hand in hand as issues. Half the people would mean less than half the carbon output. But our population has more than doubled in my lifetime. Bad growth.

Yosemite is featured in a Hallmark movie my wife and I are watching. Normal Hallmark tripe, beautiful scenery with a nice backstory of Native American history in the Park.

I don't know if this is the place for this but since sustainability was mentioned: theguardian.com/world/2022/sep/09/a-new-way-of-life-the-marxist-post-capitalist-green-manifesto-captivating-japan From the article: The message from Kohei Saito, an associate professor at Tokyo University, is simple: capitalism’s demand for unlimited profits is destroying the planet and only “degrowth” can repair the damage by slowing down social production and sharing wealth.

Unfortunately, it's supposed to increase by another 50%. And a lot of that growth will be in current 3rd world countries that will demand more energy.
