There is a question over on the old board from backpackingscoutleader who appears to have been a member of backpacker forums for 8+ years but doesn't appear to know about the new board yet.I'll provide a link to the post and cut and paste it here as well.I thought it might get some discussion started if someone with knowledge of the area or specifically Black Forest or West Rim might go over there and answer his question and let him know about this forum.Alternative you could just post here and I could direct him over here. Link to post: forums.backpacker.com/topic/3-4-day-hike-suggestions-nj-ny-pa-area/cut&paste of post: "I’m looking for suggestions on a 3-4 day backpacking trip (probably around 25-35 miles) within a few hours of my Northern NJ home for an early August getaway. Ideally something with some good climbs (1000-2000 vertical / day), but nothing crazy (hand over hand, narrow cliff trails, etc.) I have a lot of backpacking experience, but not a lot as a group leader. I’ll have a few other people with me – strong hikers, but with only a few days of backpacking experience. I’ve been thinking about either the Black Forest Trail (a bit longer than I’d like) or West Rim Trail (great views but pretty easy trails) in PA, but both are around 4 hours away. Can anyone comment on these trails? Any suggestions? Loops would be preferred, but we can also stage cars at start and finish"

BFT can be shortened with side trails. It is a challenging trail with many views. WRT doesn't have many climbs. Also check out the Old Loggers Path or a section of the Loyalsock Trail.
