Tricky terrain, that the responders interviewed multiple hikers that either diverted down the wrong gully or started to underlines that. Down is a whole different view than up.
Summer is mild enough here’s hoping he simply twisted something during his off route detour.
And probably another vote for my beacon purchase if it’s only a badly twisted joint.
