Lately, I’ve been seeing more people wearing Cotopaxi gear around my city. I don’t know much about the company other than what one of my co-workers told me about them. They are suppose to be make gear in an ethically and sustainable fashion and place an emphasis on giving back and addressing extreme poverty. They’re suppose to be a a certified B Corporation, too.
So, has anyone here tried or own their gear? What do you think of their products? Anything you like about their gear? They seem to have the right credentials for being a good company.
Anyone visited their stores? How’d you like them? They have several stores in Utah and Colorado. Plus they have stores in San Francisco, Seattle and Portland. I have not made it in to their store in PDX.
Regards,
DR

I've been in their stores and looked at their gear. It looks like anything else in its price range to me, except for the crazy colors (which I abhor).

I tried on a jacket and vest and found them both to run small.

Daughter purchased one of their down jackets. She was working in an outdoors store, so she had a healthy discount.
Quality is good, colors are fashion-forward. It's a lighter-weight down jacket, down sweater weight, good for cool weather/shoulder season. She likes how it fits and wears it a lot.

Quality is good, colors are fashion-forward. "fashion-forward" => "trendy" (I noticed that the latest issue of BP is also "trendy", featuring a large pickup truck and a huge tent right on the cover.) Makes me realize that I'm contributing to bad stuff out there. I guess we're all guilty, regardless how pure our intentions. except for the crazy colors (which I abhor) Color me confused. Now dye is good for the environment? Oh, wait. They got $45 million from Bain Capital, but it's all good, despite the "corporate gobbledygook". (Jeez! What the hell is a "global omnichannel " and what is an "experiential retail strategy"? Ask and ye shall know: "process of reinventing the store and adapting to new customer expectations and innovations" - why not just say that?) The investment and strategic guidance from Bain Capital Double Impact will help us scale Cotopaxi’s reach and impact by accelerating our global omnichannel and experiential retail strategy while strengthening our sustainability mission and efforts to address poverty. help.cotopaxi.com/what-will-cotopaxi-use-the-investment-funds-for-SyCVcygQF Another obvious observation: whose poverty? Couldn't be Mitt Romney - that guy has a house with a 40 car underground garage that looks, and maybe even works, like the one in the Carvana ads. (Or maybe he still considers himself "needy".)

I've noticed a proliferation of their stuff in a lot of shops over the past year or so. I've tried on a couple of items and have been under impressed. Seems like pretty average gear with a more than an average price tag. They may or may not be a highly responsible company, but I doubt they are any more than any other company. The only thing that makes them different in my mind is their color schemes, which to me are a bit beyond the pale. Definitely not my style. It seems they are just tying to tap into the trendy outdoor fashion chic. But please bear in mind, as I get older I'm getting more and more cynical and crotchety. Or so I'm told.
