We are planning to do the Subway Canyon in Zion in early May. I'm trying to figure out the best footwear...when I did the Narrows top down, I just wore trail shoes, but would Chacos be okay for Subway? It seems less rocky and more sandy. We also have neoprene socks for warmth that we could wear under whatever shoes we decide on. Thanks in advance!

There are (3) rappels or hand line sequences, with the longest being 30 feet. I'd probably prefer a non-Gore Tex hiking shoe or perhaps something like a Teva Churn or reasonable facsimile.

Thanks! Sounds like we'll just go with a pair of old trail shoes that we don't mind getting wet and keep a dry pair in our pack. Chacos aren't that light, comparatively speaking anyway, so not a big deal to bring real shoes instead.
